Three-Day National Workshop on "Design and Development of Pedagogical Materials for Inclusive Classrooms"

Three-Day National Workshop on "Design and Development of Pedagogical Materials for Inclusive Classrooms"

From May 13th to 15th, 2024, the Centre for Learning Disabilities and Difficulties, Department of Education, University of Kerala, organized a three-day national workshop on "Design and Development of Pedagogical Materials for Inclusive Classrooms" at E.K. Janaki Ammal Hall, CLIF Karya Vattaom campus.

Only 30 students from the previous national seminar were selected to participate in this workshop. It was an enriching experience as we developed various teaching and learning materials (TLMs) catering to the needs of all students, regardless of their difficulties. We created TLMs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) like dyslexia and dysgraphia, attention improvement, memory enhancement, and ADHD. We also studied case studies and suggested suitable measures, benefiting from guidance and sessions led by prominent special educators from Trivandrum International School.

This workshop was a life-changing moment for me as it caused an attitudinal shift, making me more empathetic and aware of inclusive education. Additionally, I celebrated my birthday on May 14th for the first time in a non-holiday month, making the experience even more memorable. The opportunity to collaborate and learn in such a focused setting was truly invaluable and has profoundly influenced my approach to teaching.
