ONE DAY TOUR

"Travel is the best form of education."

On July 27, 2023, 48 students from Mar Theophilus Training College embarked on an enriching one-day tour as part of their B.Ed. programme. The tour, which commenced at 6 AM and concluded at 11 PM, included visits to Chitharal, Padmanabhapuram Palace, Vattakotta, and Kanyakumari.

Chitharal is renowned for its Jain monuments and rock-cut temples, offering students insight into ancient Indian rock architecture and religious history. Padmanabhapuram Palace, a historical edifice, provided a glimpse into traditional Kerala architecture and the lifestyle of the Travancore royal family. Vattakotta, a fort with historical significance, served as a learning ground for the students to understand the military strategies and historical importance of coastal defense systems.
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, enriched the students' understanding of geographical and cultural diversity, where they also enjoyed a unique shopping experience, honing their bargaining skills.

Meals were a delightful part of the journey, with lunch at a serene church compound and dinner at a traditional thattukada, adding a local flavor to the trip. The tour was not only educational but also helped in strengthening the bond between teachers and students. The variety of experiences—from exploring historical sites to engaging in fun activities—made it a fruitful trip.

This field trip was significant in providing practical exposure and enhancing the educational experience as part of their B.Ed. programme. Students learned new things, observed diverse cultural and historical facets, and enjoyed the overall experience, making it a memorable and enriching journey.
