ONE DAY TOUR


"Travel is the best form of education." 

On July 27, 2023, 48 students from Mar Theophilus Training College embarked on an enriching one-day tour as part of their B.Ed. programme. The tour, which commenced at 6 AM and concluded at 11 PM, included visits to Chitharal, Padmanabhapuram Palace, Vattakotta, and Kanyakumari.

Chitharal is renowned for its Jain monuments and rock-cut temples, offering students insight into ancient Indian rock architecture and religious history. Padmanabhapuram Palace, a historical edifice, provided a glimpse into traditional Kerala architecture and the lifestyle of the Travancore royal family. Vattakotta, a fort with historical significance, served as a learning ground for the students to understand the military strategies and historical importance of coastal defense systems. 
Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, enriched the students' understanding of geographical and cultural diversity, where they also enjoyed a unique shopping experience, honing their bargaining skills.

Meals were a delightful part of the journey, with lunch at a serene church compound and dinner at a traditional thattukada, adding a local flavor to the trip. The tour was not only educational but also helped in strengthening the bond between teachers and students. The variety of experiences—from exploring historical sites to engaging in fun activities—made it a fruitful trip.

This field trip was significant in providing practical exposure and enhancing the educational experience as part of their B.Ed. programme. Students learned new things, observed diverse cultural and historical facets, and enjoyed the overall experience, making it a memorable and enriching journey.

VIGIL CRAFTS PROGRAMME


"Crafting joy in every stitch." 

On July 29, 2023, the Vigil Crafts Training Centre visited Mar Theophilus Training College and organized a vibrant function in the college auditorium to promote craft orientation. The event was graced by the chief guest, renowned serial actress Karthika Kannan, who wore a beautifully printed Kasavu saree by Vigil Crafts. In her address, she encouraged students to balance their studies with enjoyment.

Several teachers and technicians from the centre taught basic embroidery steps, and students enthusiastically participated in the trials, successfully learning different types of stitches. The event also featured various engaging games, adding to the excitement. The English Department emerged victorious, winning the overall prize and receiving a cake from the chief guest.

The function was an enthralling experience, combining learning and fun, and inspiring students to appreciate the art of craft.








KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATION


"Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers."


On July 26, 2023, Mar Theophilus Training College celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas, organized by the EBSB (Ek Bharat Swachh Bharat) Club and the Social Science Department. This day commemorates the victory of the Indian armed forces in the Kargil War, honoring the valor and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought to secure our nation's borders.

The event featured a documentary screening that vividly depicted the events of the Kargil War, followed by a thought-provoking quiz. The program was both educational and inspiring, instilling a deep sense of patriotism and respect for the armed forces among all participants.




THEO QUEEN FIRST DAY



"The journey to the crown begins with self-discovery." 

The first day of the Theo Queen Programme at Mar Theophilus Training College, conducted by the Maths Department, was an exciting exploration of identity and tradition. Participants were asked to adorn themselves in Kerala's traditional attire, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The day began with a self-introduction task, where each contestant presented themselves in a unique and creative manner. This was not just about dressing up; it was a powerful exercise in self-expression and confidence, allowing participants to showcase their personalities and strengths.

The first day set the stage for an intense and enjoyable journey, where the quest to find the best queen would continue through various challenging rounds. The event is not only about finding a winner but also about discovering and celebrating the diverse qualities within each contestant.

YIP ORIENTATION



"Empowering young minds for a better tomorrow."

 On July 25, 2023, the team from Mar Theophilus Training College, led by Aiswarya RJ, achieved the district-level victory in YIP 4.0 (Young Innovators Program), a testament to their innovative spirit and dedication.
Following this achievement, Aiswarya Sister conducted an orientation session for school students at the Mini Auditorium from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The session was highly fruitful, emphasizing the importance of creativity, innovation, and the role of youth in driving positive change. This program highlighted the significance of nurturing young talent and equipping them with the tools to contribute meaningfully to society.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME


Building Essential Life Skills: A Workshop with Dr. Pramod Dinakar

"Life skills are the foundation for effective personal and professional growth." This quote by Dr. Pramod Dinakar, Assistant Professor and Head of the School of Ethics, Governance, Cultural and Social Systems at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, perfectly encapsulates the essence of the capacity-building workshop he led on July 21, 2023. The session focused on life skill education, emphasizing the importance of developing core competencies that are vital for navigating the complexities of modern life.
During the workshop, participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities that brought to life the ten core life skills identified by UNESCO, such as self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, and effective communication. 
These practical exercises not only made the session enjoyable but also ensured that the lessons were deeply impactful and easy to apply in everyday situations. Dr. Dinakar's approach highlighted how essential these skills are for both personal empowerment and professional success.
This workshop was a crucial part of the ongoing capacity-building efforts aimed at empowering individuals to better adapt to challenges and make informed decisions. By fostering these life skills, participants left better equipped to thrive in their personal and professional lives, reinforcing the value of continuous learning and development.









THEO QUEEN FINALS


"The crown is a symbol of grace, intelligence, and resilience." 

Hestia, the Maths Department of Mar Theophilus Training College organized the "Theo Queen" programme, , to identify the best queen among the participants. The event featured multiple rounds, including a question round, picture story, and more. Out of many participants, eight were selected for the final round, which was held today.

In a thrilling conclusion, Parvathy Sister from the M.Ed. program was crowned the Queen, while Arya from the English Department secured the first runner-up position, and Sandra from Social Science claimed the second runner-up spot. I also made it to the finals, marking a proud and joyful moment. The event was a fantastic experience, filled with excitement and camaraderie.
